just some holi pics
Took ~500 pics so far but these ones got my attention just from browsing
My Gf took most of them. Ill add more pics as soon as i get some time to filter through the rest
We had quite a beautiful “sunset” near Worchester as there were some clouds just above the mountains. The next day we had a pink Langebaan sunset. Langebaan truly is a very nice place (besides the wind we’ve had so far)
my Wii review
We’ve been looking into buying a wii for quite some time and decided now was the best time to do so. We shopped around and found the best buy, and the next day we went to buy another remote.
I am quite impressed with the built-in wifi adapter and the usb ports. I havent been able to connect the wii to the internet but thats mainly because my wifi card doesnt like windows and i havent had time to play with it on linux. The game-play is still awesome and simple and my gf really likes it and is kicking my ass in bowling :/ (im more a tennis and baseball guy)
The only “problems” i have so far are: It doesn’t seem to support viewing dvd’s
and the only decent way to add great functionality is to add the homebrew channel. Games are relatively expensive as well ~R200 – R600 (not going into games with a lot of accessories ) Last but not least the ZA Nintendo site doesn’t actually work 100% they recommend setting the wii’s location to UK to use the online wii channels.
It really is a great console for the casual gamer and still has games for the avid gamer if you are willing to pay a bit more.
Garden Route Dam
Here are a couple of photo’s that i took in early August of the garden route dam and some new ones i took today (image quality differ quite a bit) According to the newspaper the dam level is below 25% and our current consumption is 26ML per day. With no sight of good rains before February things are looking quite bleak for a lot of people.
Here are the photos i took today
Never Say Never
When i was in second year at university we had to integrate crystal reports into one of our small uni apps. On that day i told my lecturer ” I will NEVER work with crystal reports in my life again!” I didn’t see the use of it, it was old reporting tool with limited uses and you could only manipulate it so much, there are so many better reporting tools to use. Well seems there was a reason for them teaching us some crystal reports, I have been working almost full time with Crystal reports for the last 2-3 months. Carma?
So now i know a lot more of Crystal and i can see why they created it and how it can be useful for non-programmer people needing simple reports, but still allowing the programming to add some hardcore features. Personally I would prefer working with different tools but… dare I say it is the best tool for the current situation.
I see a couple of “nevers” waiting for their turn to come and have their turn with me.
